Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'Yet Imagine I Might Be Madeleine?'
A woman accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and evidence obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most covered investigations and continues to be unsolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate phone message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I'm her? Then what? Is that not important for you?"
"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to understand," the message continued.
The panel was advised that through electronic messages, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent early photographs to her phone in a attempt to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.
The investigator, a data specialist with law enforcement who compiled the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the phone records.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."
On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court was informed the co-defendant established a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in the county in last December.
Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had communicated via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the time leading up to the appearance to that location, Leicestershire, in last December.
The court learned communications between the two individuals, in that autumn, planning attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her bins or from cutlery at a restaurant.
"We have to take action," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the visit to their residence, Mrs Spragg transmitted a communication which said: "We find ourselves positioned adjacent to the McCanns' house with our headlights off like private investigators.
