Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.
But the main talking point was the visitors' second goal when the keeper gave away possession well outside his area.
The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.
But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.
Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Tottenham supporters booed him.
Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
One of those booing episodes really irritated the manager.
"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be real Spurs fans that do that. Fair enough booing following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period showing.
Former Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the next score was "totally avoidable".
"I do appreciate the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a excellent squad member, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario After the Game
Italian national team the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to accept the criticism.
"The second score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for that," he said.
"My aim was to clear the ball long and I just hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult mountain to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with the game".
"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do as they see fit.
"It's on the team to remain more calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it's hard to accept."
'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an simple score for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.
Ten moments passed between Vicario exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was five moments following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.
"I was surprised none of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them covered the net, my interest lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which gave me a bit of extra opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to make the right connection and place it on target. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Poor Run, All Seems to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor day for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.
This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.
Just a single of those victories have come since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said the boss.
"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the opening was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have lost four consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their lowest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).
Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a huge football club with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
