More than 36,000 civilians have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan territory east of Darfur beginning Saturday, as reported by the UN's migration agency.

The strategic central area between the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine region has in recent weeks become the recent fighting area in the extended civil war between the Sudanese armed forces and the militia group.

Substantial Displacement Numbers

An approximated 36,825 people fled five areas in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, per data from the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, primarily walking, moved toward Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering in excess of 652,000 evacuated individuals.

Increased Troop Concentration

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army concentration across communities throughout the state.

Both military groups are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a important strategic and command base that connects Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," said an RSF member in a recently shared video statement.

Regional Citizens Report Protection Issues

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had grown significantly since the group's takeover of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing clashes," the resident commented.

Another inhabitant, who requested anonymity for safety concerns, also reported that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the previous fortnight.

World Alarms and Requests

A senior UN official sounded warnings last week about "widespread abuses" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The representative warned of patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against specific ethnic communities.

The religious leader on Sunday appealed for an quick cessation of hostilities and the establishment of relief routes in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday accused RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the armed faction.

The ambassador further urged the world nations to classify the group as a terrorist organisation.
