Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose work have represented all of those elements.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the essence of people through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, daring style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
